| Hollywood Inspired Redoine Faid |
Redoine Faid, 46 had stated earlier that his life of crime was inspired by Hollywood movies such as "Scarface" and "Heat".
In a daring helicopter escape, public
enemy number one happened in the prison of Reau. An armed commando landed
in the courtyard of honour of the prison of Réau in the south of Paris, while
the detainee was in the visiting room.
He is a known recidivist delinquent popularly known as the
"public enemy number one" of France.
The Ministry of Justice revealed that an armed commando
landed in the courtyard of honour of the prison while the detainee was in the
visiting room.
Redoine escaped within a few minutes, without hostages or
injured, and his investigation is now in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office.
The station "France Info" detailed that the
command consisted of three individuals with weapons of war.
On reaching the Parisian airports of Le Bourget and Charles
de Gaulle, the helicopter was set on fire. Redoine and his team continued their
escape by car.
It seems the courtyard of the penitentiary centre, is the
only place in that prison that is not covered, a situation that had been
denounced by its workers.
Redoine had been sentenced to less than 3 months to 25 years
in prison as the organizer of a robbery of an armoured car that killed a police
officer in 2010 in Val-de-Marne, outside the capital.
His fame increased after the publication in 2010 of his book
"Braqueur", in which his criminal past has been outlined.
This is not his first attempt at trying to escape. In 2017,
he was sentenced to ten years for having escaped from prison on April 13, 2013.
On that occasion, he used explosives and retain officials.
That escape had led France to mobilise its forces and
launch an international search and capture order on suspicion that he had fled
to a neighbouring country. But, Redoine was captured six weeks later, at dawn,
in a hotel in the Paris region.
The secretary of the police union Alliance Police, Loïc
Travers, warned the public of Redoine’s evil nature, given that he is armed. Also, the representative of the penitentiary union FO, Yoan Karar, pointed out that
his accomplices were well trained and dangerous.
In Hollywood, one of the earliest instances of using a
helicopter to escape as shown in the year 1971. The movie was based on Kaplan,
a New York businessman who not only successfully escaped prison but
eventually escaped Mexico and went on to write a book about his experience, The
10-Second Jailbreak.
