Intel's new Core Duo processor - high on performance
This first real mobile part is designed to feature two processor cores. Also, it has led to the creation of a new metric that processors will be judged and referred to as performance per watt.
The Core Duo processor has the best overall performance per watt to allow it to perform extremely well yet be very low on battery life. Reason why, Apple announced last year that they would be switching away from the PowerPC architecture to the Intel platform. The testing of notebooks with the Core Duo are show better overall performance than previous generation Pentium M processors while also having a longer battery life.
